I call it a ‘heartless campaign’

"I love my country too, perhaps more than you do. So don’t call me stupid and irrational if I’m not for your candidate."
Lately, I was really annoyed by some people who campaign for presidential candidates whom they think is the best and the most worthy among the rest. People who are not for their candidate(s) are addressed as senseless, stupid and irrational. And last night they have gotten into my nerves.
We are citizens of this country too. And I love my country too. No one has the right to call me stupid or irrational if I am not for their candidate. I may be supporting Noynoy Aquino or Manny Villar or Gilbert Teodoro. That’s because I have my own bases for doing so! I am a thinking person, we are creatures capable of rational thinking based on our own criterion.
There’s nothing wrong in campaigning, or in showing me the comparison between the candidates. But never ever force someone to vote for someone he doesn’t like.
I am the judge, and my ballot will contain the sacred ruling. You have your own ballot to fill up. I am the judge of my candidates, and during the campaign all you have got to do is show me the evidences. I will pass my judgment on election day and no body can tell me that I am stupid and irrational if I didn’t vote for their candidates. As a voter, I will only answer to God, to my country and to myself.
You may be allowed to ‘influence ‘ the voters, but it is up to the voters if they will let your influence enter their hearts and minds. They love their country too, the same way as you do, or perhaps more than you do. So don’t call us irrational and stupid if we are not for your bet!
May this be also our thought when we are in the precinct and we are about to mark the ovals in the ballot. God bless you all.
